Creative Inspiration for My New Album: Minnie Riperton
I’m working on material for a new instrumental hip hop album. One of my favorite parts of the creative process is digging through old records and movies for samples and inspiration. This time around I want to invite you into this process and share a few things I’m checking out that I think you might also like. Minnie Riperton’s Come to My Garden album is one of my go to albums for getting inspired to create music. It’s full of brilliant orchestral arrangements by Charles Stepney and soulful grooves played by Ramsey Lewis, Maurice White and Cleve Eaton. Check it out.
