Brandon Meeks Fuses Lofi Hip Hop and Live Instrumentation
Hip hop enhanced by the nuance and spontaneity of the human touch
For over a decade I’ve been a fixture in the Indianapolis hip hop scene as both a beat maker and instrumentalist. During my time as a member of Native Sun I crafted a unique approach to using hip hop beats in my live performances. I use beat machines on stage combined with a live drummer and other musicians to create a sound that is authentically hip hop enhanced by the nuance and spontaneity of the human touch. This sound has earned me opportunities to share the stage and work with some really cool people over the years like Thundercat, Black Milk and Robert Glasper.
In recent years since the pandemic I developed a weekly show on Facebook called Breakfast Beats where I give people a mood-elevating hour-long set of chill lofi beats from my library of original music. In the course of doing this show I’ve created a large body of work that is proven to resonate with people. I believe audiences are ready to hear this music in a live in-person setting and I can’t wait to team up with some of my favorite musicians and bring it to them.

You can watch the clips below to get an idea of my sound. In the first video I’m performing one of my tracks the way I would during my show Breakfast Beats or a live performance. In the second video you can see and hear how I’ve expanded one of my beats with live musicians.

The Breakfast Beats Mixtape
This hour-long mix features 26 hand-picked lofi hip hop tracks from my Breakfast Beats show on Facebook.
The mixtape's title reflects the relaxed and mellow vibe of the music, making it perfect for easing into your day or winding down after a long one. The tracks were selected with the help of my audience, who participated in the track selection process, making it a collaborative effort.
Enjoy the vibe and let it take you on a journey of relaxation and inspiration.
