This track has a danceable tempo with classic hip hop production style. I wanted to make sure my bass line was simple and deep in the pocket while matching the grittiness of the overall song.
Tensei - Taste Like
This song has a strong Curtis Mayfield vibe. Even though I played upright bass on this I wanted to channel the spirit of the great bassist Joseph “Lucky” Scott who played bass guitar on all my favorite Curtis Mayfield records.
Jamie Toomey featuring Syauqi Destanika
On this track I really embraced my roll as an accompanist and played what I felt would help the lead vocal shine. The song blends elements of gospel, folk and soul. I drew from my experience coming up as a musician in church to bring the right energy to this song.
